PHATSO BIO

Phatso formed in the summer of 2000. It consists of four musicians bringing vocals, bass, drums and guitar to the sound.

Guitarist Jerry Fernandez has been playing for about 10 years and is always up for new riff ideas to add to the sound.

Drummer Mando Avina plays a funky style with his own combination of beats to fill out the music. Playing for a few years now Mando always comes up with great beats for the music.

Omar Gonzalez plays bass Guitar. A founding member and bassist of the Blues Experiment Omar plays funky blues bass lines to also add to the music. Playing for 11 years now Omar can play a variety of styles.

And finally Gus Avina, also a member of Blues Experiment, is the lead vocalist and front man for Phatso. He is the brother of Phatso's Drummer Mando. He can do it all singing from his soulful voice to produce blues to hard rock and Spanish sounds.

Phatso is a rock, blues and funk band that pleases the crowd with their stage performance and electrifying music. When you go to a Phatso show you never know what to expect.

Phatso started out jamming in the bedroom of bassist Omar Gonzalez. They were constantly working on writing and creating music. Many nights they practiced to well past 3am. When the music was complete Phatso was offered a few shows to debut at the now extinct Brave Bull in San Gabriel. They were asked to open up for The Alarm and John Easdale of Dramarama. They were nervous but with the past performance experience of veterans Omar and Gus and the hours of practice they had put in, they pulled it off.

After pleasing the crowd and impressing various promoters Phatso was offered gigs on a weekly basis. Phatso has performed at the Whiskey, The Garage, Old Town Pub, Mals Bar and other various venues in the LA, Norwalk and Pasadena circuits. Phatso has a large number of friends that grow from show to show as people sign our mailing list, visit our web site or call our "phatline".

Phatso is always willing to play new venues. Phatso promotes themselves with their current CD, stickers and through the internet.

Phatso's goals are to continue creating and playing great music for years to come. We will continue to please crowds in various cities through the expression of our music.
